Sri Mahalinga Swamy Temple located in Tiruvidaimarudhur of Kumbakonam Kshetra, Tamil Nadu is also popular as Madhyarjuna Kshetra. The presiding deity is Sri Mahalinga Swamy and Sri Bruhat Sundara Kujaambika.

Tiruvidaimarudhur is the Tamil name for Sanskrit word Madhyarjuna. Srisailam in Andhra Pradesh is the Thalai Marudhur (Aadi Arjuna kshetram). Tiruvidaimarudhur is one of the 276 Paadal Petra Shiva Sthalams and is equal to Kashi. It is situated on South Bank of Kaveri. Tiruvidaimarudhur Kshetram is well known for Brahma Hatya Dosha Nivrutti (Atonement of Sins). King Varaguna Pandyan had Brahma Hatya dosham and exited out of the back entrance. The Brahma Hatya sin remained inside the temple. A sculpture of the Brahma Hatya sin with a distorted face and head buried between its legs can be seen in this temple. Bhajan exponent Sri Sridhara Ayyawaal was a great devotee of Mahalinga Swamy of this temple and he disappeared inside the sanctum of this temple & attained Mukti.
