Muktinaga

Muktinaga temple in Ramohalli is dedicated to the serpent god Sri Subrahmanya. The place was earlier known as ‘Junjappana Bayalu’. Devotees have been known to follow an old custom here. They would visit the anthill here and offer prayers to fulfil their desires. Junjappa is a character in the folklore and worshipped. Junjappana Bayalu is said to be receiving devotees for more than two hundred years.

Muktinaga is a large temple complex housing many shrines. The main deity of Muktinaga is a very large idol more than 16ft high and weighing 36tonnes. Idols of Sri Karya Siddhi Vinayaka, Renuka Yellamma, Lord Shiva and Parvati, Lord Narasimha have also been consecrated.

Devotees visit here, atone for problems associated with Kundali and take up many Sevas like Sarpa Samskara and Naga Pratishtha. Another idol of Sri Shaktidhara Subrahmanya weighing more than 50 tonnes has been consecrated here. Sri Subrahmanya Shastry has put in a lot of effort in realizing the dream of consecrating Muktinaga and construction of the temple.
